AZ Day 4 - Follow That Tiger!
You meet the oddest people on the road.
We made it!
My excuse for this ride was to meet up with a group of folks from an internet motorcycle forum, some of whom I've "known" in the internet sense for over three years but had never met face-to-face. Riders have come from as far away as Illinois and Washington State to meet up in Springerville, AZ, and today we all met in person. Everyone made it in safe and sound, the last group arriving after dark and joining us across the street from our motel, Reed Lodge, at a local restaurant.
Today's ride started out with a little interstate but we quickly jumped onto Route 66 for twenty miles before heading into the countryside. I was able to get some pictures along the way and it was nice to have a camera in my hand again.

The terrain varied from high grass meadows to sandstone cliffs and though the weather was cool the riding was great.

Our fearless leader, Doc Weston, kept us on track through the day.

We even found some twisty roads....

I trailed the group most of the day so I could take pictures.

The rock formations were probably my favorite part of the ride.
And we saw natural signs of destruction like old lava flows...

...and man made ones like mining operations:
Throughout out it all I had a great time riding with some really good friends from past trips.
Jerry even found a new trike for his next tour:

We don't know what he uses that bucket for...and we don't want to find out.
Tomorrow is our big ride down the Coronado Trail...I can't wait!
