AZ Day 5 - Coronado Ain't Got Nuttin' On Me!

Photobucket
Here I come!

What a gret day! We had fifteen or so bikes crossing the Coronado Trail. After a (too) early breakfast we packed up and headed in search of the Trail.

On the road again, our first stop would be for fuel.

Then we were off down the Coronado Trail!

The trail was built on the old road bed first used by Coronado on his quest for gold in the West. As such, the road curves up and over two mountains with a high mountain meadow between the two.

The terrain and countryside varies greatly.

I even discovered the Wing makes a decent off road bike.

And dangers abound...

But the riding made the danger worth it!

Despite ending our day in the 90 degree valley, it was quite cold in the morning. We weren't surprised to see snow still on the ground at altitude.

In this picture Jerry tries to melt the snow.

While the trail itself was a ride at your own pace event the group did reform towards the end of the passage.

Can you spot the rider in the following pic?

But our group the only riders on the road.

As we made our way back to civilization we rode through a huge copper mine.

After lunch we made our way down to the valley and our evening's destination.

I'll likely stay here for tomorrow and then hit the road again bright and early Monday morning.

There I go!
