AZ Day 6 - Sunday; a Day of Rest....
This Foul-Mouthed, Ill-tempered, Middle-Aged Man decided to take a day of rest and hole up at the Gold Canyon Golf Resort. Sure, I don't play golf but I sure know how to loaf, or so I do after spending a couple of days with the Arizona boys.
A member of our group, Jerry, the trike lusting rider from a prior blog entry, is a member of the club and secured rooms at a substantial discount. After a long day on the Coronado Trail I took one look at my room and decided I could use a day of rest. Later at dinner I found out two of the guys had the same plan so there were three of us laying over today.
The resort is beautiful, definitely a step above my usual Microtel or Hampton Inn.

Dinosaur Mountain stands to the north of the resort.
Some of the guys hung out at the pool after a large breakfast buffet.
All of our meals were on the restaurant's deck, overlooking the valley and setting sun. Note the water mist coolers in this picture. We're on the tail of the "season" and it's starting to heat up during the day.
At noon Doc took us over to his house to watch the MotoGP race from China.
Then it was back to my room to work on my route for this coming week.

The room is split level with an upper level bath and bedroom. The lower level contains a seating area with sofa, t.v., and mini bar. (No, the room didn't come with all that's mess, that's just all miy riding crap).
Though I still don't have a definite plan, and probably won't, it's looking like I'll ride to the Big Bend area tomorrow (Monday) and then tour the Bend Tuesday morning before riding to the Hill Country for a meet up with JD, a riding buddy from Houston. We'll tour the Hill Country and then I'll head east along the gulf coast and reaching Florida and my return to Atlanta.
But until then I'm just going to chill under a cactus and enjoy the moment.
